Hi!

Well technically, fractals are "geometric objects of non-integer dimension and infinite self-similar structure." So I guess Fractal Art is art containing those kind of crazy shapes!

The cool thing about fractals because they are not 2 dimensional like a square, nor 3 dimentional like a cube, but either somewhere in between like 2.623451 dimensional or even 4.981762 dimensional etc... I think you can see in my pictures like Purple Rings and Eights that something weird is going with the dimentionality the way the blobs collide and go through each other as if they are in different dimensions.

I make all my stuff in UltraFractal which is the bomb and simple to learn. I learned how to use it in 5 minutes, but theres 1000's of different fractals and coloring schemes so even after 2 years I feel like a fractal newbie. The really hard thing to master about making fractal art is the art of "masking" -- this lets you combine multiple fractals into the same picture. The principal is the same as photoshop masking except you don't manually select the sections you want to mask, you use parameters and formulas to create masks so that takes alot of learning.

Fractal art is crap, because the artists who produce it don't know crap. And the artists who do know crap cannot apply said crap to the production of an original piece of fractal art.

That's where I come in. I'm not an artist nor am I talented. But I am going to make something original or die trying.

To increase the chance of success, each of my fractal arts will hereby suffer from the following limitations:

- Use only a single coloring method
- Use only a single fractal formula
- Use only a single set of coordinates
- Avoid use of post-processing filters and non-fractal enhancements

That means I am not going to mix and match different fractals from wherever like some sort of artist. Nor will I apply a bunch of artistic filters in an attempt to turn a fractal into a watercolor painting. Instead, I will seek out patterns that already look good, and make them look really good in the simplest way possible.

My current project is "3d" fractals, that is using coloring methods to create the illusion of a ray-traced image.
